Service Hours Log Sheet Verification Form (pdf)
Requirements
- You may select a service opportunity that is not on this list. However, you must have the approval of your hearing officer or sanctioning body prior to starting your hours. Bear in mind that it must be educational, charitable, or not-for-profit agency within the Champaign-Urbana community. Hours submitted which are not from this list without the prior approval of OSCR will not be accepted.
- Members of the Greek Letter organizations cannot count philanthropy toward completion of service hours.
- Verification – You must ensure that all of your service hours are documented in OSCR. Verification of service hours may come in the form of a letter from the agency with the name and phone number of the person who supervised your work. You may also use the log sheet on the OSCR website.
A few helpful hints
- Don’t wait until the last minute to arrange your volunteer activities. All of these agencies are very busy and it may take them a few days to return your call.
- Select several opportunities that sound interesting to you, in case one does not work out.
- Be patient and persistent with the agencies.
- Be flexible with your time. These agencies are welcoming you into their space, be respectful and mindful of that fact.
- Be prepared for the possibility that you will have to complete an application, orientation, and training, especially if you choose to work with children. This process could take anywhere from 2-4 weeks.
- If the organizations listed here do not fit your schedule or interests, you may go to Office of Volunteer Programs (277 Illini Union, 333-7424) or www.cuvolunteer.org to find alternative volunteer opportunities. Please note that you must check with your hearing officer before completing these hours however.
- NOTE: Service hours completed at the Loving Action SHARE food program in Rantoul, IL will not be accepted by the Office for Student Conflict Resolution.
